Knowing

As a ball rolls off the table, how do you know if it will fall? Did you have to intellectually think about the formula of gravity? Did you think about the physical force of gravity?

In that moment, you knew the ball would fall. Was that pattern recognition or trial and error?

I would say it was personal experience. Personal experience is something you know. It’s something you’ve witnessed first hand, so many times, that has become a natural knowledge.

A knowledge or an understanding that comes from your nature, a feeling deep in your bones. This is what I call The Knowing.

Our intuition naturally stems from this place. Our intuition is not always correct, but its aim is far more accurate than our mind. Commonly the more we think about something, the less confident we feel. Sleeping on a decision, tends to bring more peace.

Mental models, thought experiments, philosophy, and mental constructs are all external templates, that limit our ability to feel what we truly know. They stifle our intuition. They prevent us from acting from a place of knowing and intuition.

They also prevent us from experiencing the jaw dropping success that can only be experienced when one acts from intuition.
