Enlightenment in Every Generation

There are certain truths that have been found by multiple people independently of each other. This happens in every generation.

Peace is reached by a man who then begins to share his journey. He wishes to share this enlightenment with the masses. He develops a following, becomes a political and societal revolution.

When he dies, a religion is formed in his name. Somewhere in between sharing truth with others and developing a following, his teaching are prescriptionalized.

Don’t drink, don’t steal, pray everyday. Yet, it was not the prayer that led the man to enlightenment.

Enlightenment and peace is found on the quest to enlightenment in peace. The quest for God is found in the direct pursuit of God.

On the other hand, the quest for religion leads to more religion.

The intellectualization and feel-good stories of religion are far more mentally stimulating than sitting alone in the cave like the prophets or living in solitude like the Buddha. Before I move on, I wish to say that enlightenment and peace don’t require sitting in the cave or living in the woods.

You can experience both in their truest form tonight in the comfort of your home.

Enlightenment and peace don’t live in society. They don’t live on Times Square or in the White House.

It is no surprise that the ones that pursue peace, naturally retreat into isolation.
